About Susan Asbill

I've been designing for the past 15 years and feel blessed to have a career that I love. Working on my daughter's birth announcement sparked an interest in stationery design and I've been hooked ever since. I'm so happy to have found the Minted community. Like other Minties, I love all things paper. Nothing excites me more than a beautifully designed book, a letterpress invitation in the mail or a gift wrapped in gorgeous paper... heaven!

Ok, so your note about my "Washi Love" design is the sweetest and best note ever!! It made me smile and was definitely needed today ... rough day with baby being off schedule (decided that she wanted to wake up at 4:45 am and stay up, ugh) and having to deal with mortgage/loan stuff for our house purchase. I started working on one early this morning, but unfortunately I don't think I will finish it in time. (Darn full-time jobs getting in the way of the actual fun design!) Maybe for a future submission, though! Thanks for the sweet comments. <3

Susan - I posted a comment in reply to your comment on my "Undreamed Shores" submission, but then after I deleted it, realized you wouldn't be able to read it! I wanted to thank you for your comment because it made me go back and re-read the license agreement for the font the circle design was from (Darling Monograms by Tart Workshop) and realized I couldn't use it anyway. Nah - anyone that grew up in the 70's could easily have thought to use that concept. And, actually, that note card challenge was during the voting for the notebook challenge and, after I entered that design, I noticed this design in the notebook challege: http://www.minted.com/design-rating/34577 and commented to Dawn that we must think alike. But thanks for your support, Susan - it's much appreciated! I understand the lack of time - I only have 1 in this time. Looking forward to the upcoming stationery challenge...

Awww - you're sweet! The design did not look like mine at all - I just do my best to stay away from what's already being done. It's easier to win when yours isn't being compared directly similar concepts by other great designers like yourself! :-) I was thinking about maybe trying to sell that neapolitan design in a non-personalized note card set...unless someone orders it before I get around to it! ;-)

Hi Susan! Thanks for the sweet note - I loved your cheerful card as well. I used Miller's recycled stock for my cards this year, and I printed the envelopes myself. From my experience, Miller's always does a beautiful job. Happiest of new years to you and yours!
