Aww! I know it's hard, but try not to be so insecure! I'm not "trained" at all either, and there are actually a lot of really fabulous Minties that have zero graphic design training :) we can all do it!

Giselle, I think your "Beat the Drum" design is adorable as is. But, if you feel like playing around with it some more, then you should definitely go for it. :)
