No worries! I don't think you have to go back to the drawing board, maybe just few tweaks if you feel they would help. Your animal illustrations look great!

THANKS so much for your compliments.. funny you mention making more letters. my friend who is having a baby girl in a couple weeks asked me to make some peacock inspired letters for her nursery. I made the M in Molly and started an L but never got to the rest and she decided to use my letter as inspiration and paint them herself (she is a great artist) so I had an M and i wanted to turn it into something that didnt need to be edited if someone bought it.. N for Notes it is! but i would love to make more letters some day.. i already have a M and N;)

Thanks Debb for your feedback. I also considered taking off the binder but since the giraffe is going to bleed off the page anyway, just left it for now. I will see if I get more feedback. It would be neat of Minted could do metallic gold/foil bindings, because I thought that would be pretty. I tried to approximate it with the color but it's tricky!

Hi, Debb! I agree with your comment on my page that being "helpful" shouldn't be about competition - but your going down in this next Challenge! ;-) just kidding! I think that's what makes it nice that you were rewarded - it was unexpected and you were deserving! I'm not so sure it will be an ongoing "competition" anyway. Hi Debb, I'm constantly inspired by nature and history and I seek out details that I might be able to incorporate into a design. I'd suggest finding something that inspires you and really look at it, see the details, the patterns and the colors. It's a great place to start! I also try to edit my designs and see if there's anything I can take away and still have the design "work." I appreciate clean design so it's something I strive for myself. Most of all, I experiment. Some things work, some don't. Don't be afraid to try something new. It just might get you on the path of your own style! Hope that helps!

Hello Debb - I've been competing since 2008. I would totally agree with that statement. When I design for Minted I take a look at current trends and top sellers in the minted store. When you enter challenges you are essentially designing for other designers - very very picky designers. Minties are sticklers typography, use of white space and fresh color palettes. Modern and fresh is the "look" of minted - so I always keep that in mind as well. I hope that is helpful. It's a tough competition and the talent pool is growing everyday. Don't let that discourage you though there is so much you can learn from competing. Best wishes! =)
