I love paper lanterns. Lush citrus colors inspired me, but it's so easily adapted to any wedding palette.

I dish it. So I can take it. Tell me what you think and how I can improve this design. Just imagine I was designing this for your wedding...

I was at the gardening store this weekend, and they had these lanterns. I thought, "what a great idea for the wedding challenge!" And then you beat me to it!! :) But I think you executed it better than I would have. Very festive...I'd love to go to this wedding!

The only thing that stands out to me is that the first and middle names run together a bit

Really cool, Amy! I grew up with Japanese lanterns around my house--really fun! I guess the one thing that seems off to me is that there is no overlap in the lanterns. I would try staggering and/or resizing them just a bit, so that they fall more in front or behind one another--just in a spot or two. To me, just the size differences are not quite enough to give the depth perception--it's more like different sized lanterns all on one flat plane, if that makes sense. I would also agree to bumping the spacing between first and middle names just a hair :)

I was waiting in anticipation to see what genius you put out there. This doesn't disappoint at all. It's beautiful!!!

Thanks ladies! I adjusted the name spacing. I see your point Karen about the depth perception. They are actually different sized lanterns and I'm sacrificing the 'reality' factor for a clean and simplified design. Believe me, I was trying to do glowing lights inside and tenting. I had to stop myself from over complicating things - which is my tendency...

Very beautiful!! I love the illustrations and the treatment of the type. The colors are also bright and cheerful, which I love. Personally I would think it would be more for a less formal wedding (not black tie optional) or even a rehearsal dinner invite. Although I am very inspired by this design!!

i really love the illustration, but the type feels like there's no hierarchy. i think a simple, more minimal type layout would make this design more appealing and usable.

I like the treatment of the type; adding the two columns changes things up a bit. :) The lanterns and colors are also great! If I were to nit-pick, I would try reversing the color of the largest yellow lantern with the first one on the left. It seems to lose some of the contrast since it's the lightest color and it's standing out to me since it's the largest one. Also, I agree with Emily, this seems appropriate for an outdoor or informal wedding so maybe lose the "black tie". Great work as always!

it might be nice if all type (except names) was in the coral/red color - that way the names would really pop? nice work...

i like where this is going! do you think you could connect the lanterns by a hanging "ribbon" or "wire" of some sorts? it could be in a very light color so it wouldn't dominate any of the design. that may give you the 3-d effect while still keeping things clean... and i'm not sure you need the 2 green lines on the sides by your info. the 1 in the middle may be enough. just a few thoughts :)

Updated the fonts and colors. I wanted something a little less backyard and a bit more gardens feeling...

I like the font layout/selection much better. The focus now is appropriately split between the graphic and bride/groom names. Great job.

ooh, i love this new version. it retains the playful quality, but feels more put together. the only thing i would say is that the names feel a little crowded by the script at the bottom.

Love, love, love this one! The lanterns are fun and playful. I'd definitely want to attend this wedding! My only suggestion is to move the "to" down a little. It just looks a little high at the moment.
